throttle cleaners

here's another issue there seems to be differing opinions on. what is the correct cleaner for a turbo throttle body and associated parts like idle motors? some say brake cleaner, some carb cleaner and some special throttle body cleaner only. some don't have chlorine in them. what melts what? what ruins what? does anyone know? i cannot find any definitive info. thanks
