leakage current in 1997 moidel 850

Does anyone know what the yellow wire with green tracer that is connected directly to the batter + is used for? I have about 8 amps of leakage current when this wire is connected. When I disconnect it, the battery drain stops and even though it is disconnected, nothing seems to be without power to the entire car.
