V70 1998 Fuel Consumption

Any idea what is fuel consumption about for V70 1998 2.4 engine?
What should I check if it is high? (don't see any leaks)

I assume you're talking about a non-turbo. If so, then you should get about 30 mpg on the highway and low 20's in the city. If low pressure turbo, then high 20's on the highway and about 20 in the city. Hope this helps.

You're awfully optimistic.
If it's an automatic I would go with mid to upper 20s highway AT A STEADY 60 MPH and about 18-20 in the city, also with a light foot
A 5 speed manual will be 3 to 4 MPG better
Obviously this would be in perfect tune with everything at 110%

JRL is probably right, that I'm optimistic. I'm just saying from my experience....but our cars are always tuned to the 110% that he mentions

If it is high, above 10L/100Km, then it is probably time to clean the throttle body and replace the spark plugs, air filter, and verify that the tire pressures are OK.
You should be getting around 8L/100Km or better, IF you keep your speed under 130Kmh, above that speed and fuel will pour through

looks like my car needs tune up, I got 11.5 l/100km combined city/hwy (50/50).

I was told that computer reset may help.
I did reset in Volvo dealership and it drives now differently. It drives like it lost some weight. Still have to check fuel consumption...
As I was explained, the computer is monitoring driving habits and adjusting itself. This may lead to fuel consumption increase.

With a 98 S70 T5 automatic I got 23 in stop-and-go commute traffic. On the open highway at a steady 70 I'll get about 27. I would imagine that a non-turbo would be better. The lowest I've seen on my own car was 21 on a tank that was 100% city driving.

My '97 850 non-turbo 5spd wagon will break 30 mpg with the cruz set @ 75.
