V70 T5 Wanted, 02-04
V70 T5 Wanted, 02-04
Stupid deer on the freeway kissed the front of the car the other night, fortunately I'm not bruised but the V70 is done, $11,000+ damage is too much for State Farm to swallow. So after doing a ton of research the past day or two I've decided that the next one will be an 02-04 V70 T5, tan leather, heated seats, clean and well maintained. Will travel for the "right" car, free beer for whoever finds it, ha ha. Thanks...

Unfortunately for "TED", The right car for him means what HE wants to pay, not what the market will bring.
I have nothing against him, far from it, but he always makes a (public) note on every car I sell, that it is too much and that he should pay less.
People get what they pay for, (see last sentence)
You will find that there are many less 2002 T5 wagons than 01's and from 03 on, it becomes one very rare wagon with VERY few made. In fact with every model year the number of T5's built went progressively DOWN.
Good luck with your search, I hope you find what you're looking for
(BTW as a matter of note and not really germain to your topic, the person who bought my "overpriced" 98 T5 wagon says it's the best Volvo he's seen (of that year and model) and has had 0 problems with it since purchase)

Jim, Jim...you're so knowledgable about these cars but very often so obnoxiously self-righteous. On one hand a valuable asset to these and other forums, yet on the other hand a PITA. I haven't made a public note on every car you sell, I've only commented on the one that you basically said I was an idiot not to buy (even though I pointed out that it was not the color interior that I wanted etc) and the comment that I made was that it was more than it was worth to ME, not that it was overpriced. Don't forget that at the same time I complimented you on your very nice cars and the exceptional service that you seem to give your customers. And yes, I will pay what I want for a vehicle, hopefully below what the general market will bring. You seem to think that you alone are priviledged to obtain beautiful, well cared for Volvos...well, as I've said before, you're not the only one and no you can't find them all nor possibly buy them all. Give me a break, dude...I've been looking for cars far more rare than these for a very long time and always manage to find what I want at a price that I want to pay...and at a price that is acceptable to the seller. Otherwise there'd be no deal, would there? BTW, a local dealer acquaintance is at auctions in the NE right now keeping an eye out for the "right" vehicle for me...you may even have bid on the same car sometime this week, or have in the past. He specializes only in Saab/Volvo/VW/Bimmers and gets the vast majority at the same auctions that you do, loads up a transporter and brings them here.JRL wrote:Unfortunately for "TED", The right car for him means what HE wants to pay, not what the market will bring.

As a reply to your note re: your 98 T5 buyer, I told you that I had no doubt that someone would be getting a great car that they would be happy with. But FYI, since purchasing my (now wrecked) '98, I spent ZERO dollars on problems. EVERYTHING worked before it was wrecked, right down to the switch light bulbs (okay, I spent $2 to replace two of them). Full service records, gorgeous paint, interior, everything...including non-peeling interior door trim. Great car at thousands less than you were asking for yours...what was I supposed to do? And now that I'm looking for another you're ticked that when someone pointed out your saffron R I mentioned that it was a lot of money (meaning more than I would spend on it), not to mention that I said that I did NOT want a pre-haldex AWD. I also clearly stated that it was not overpriced for someone who was looking for that particular car. So get over yourself already, man...
BTW, I hope that your buyer who needed the '98 owners manual enjoyed the nice one that I sent him, complete with suede cover and warranty booklet. You know, the one that I let you have at far less than what they're going for on eBay etc, the one that I busted my ass to get to the post office right away because you needed it sent ASAP? I hope it made you look good to your customer, because it's the last time I'll bend over backward for you.
Sorry for the novel everybody, but this guy is ridiculous.
Out.
Take care,
Ted

Was that you who sent me the 97 S90 owners manual?
Then I do apologize but you have made comments on my pricing.
I can't help it if I try to make a living and please remember that I really DO try to make any one of these as good as I possibly can before offering them for sale and I also know you are (painfully) aware how much these can cost to repair.
If I see one in my travels I'll let you know

No, I sent a beautiful '98 70-series manual/warranty booklet w/original suede binder direct to one of your customers for you a while back, CHEAP...I was planning on eBaying it to make a few bucks but you needed it for your customer so I offered it. But regardless, the only comments I've made on your pricing is that it's more than I want to spend, not that you're overpriced. Your cars ARE worth what you ask, to people who don't have the time/energy/resources/etc to dig deep and hard, and in all likelihood travel to find the "right" car. I've stated before that you obviously work hard to find good cars, properly prepare them for sale, and take care of your customers afterward. I respect the job that you do, but show a bit of that respect back to those who don't need your services, and especially when they're willing to help you out of a bind (see owner's manual reference above).
All done, next topic.
