2000 AWD S70 won't start

Post by eoseos »

Hello,

I've seen 2 posts about Volvo 2000's not starting. The response seemed to be tuning, having it looked at. Might be the same here, but I thought I'd throw it out anyway.

I have 2000 AWD S70, with 78K miles. Today, at lunch I noticed that I had turn the key twice to get the car started. Since I personally only drive the car 2 times a week, I didn't think twice. This evening, my wife moved the car for 1 minute, and then about 15 minutes later, I attempted to start the car, but it wouldn't start. The lights came one, radio, etc. It tries to turn over, but doesn't. We jumped it, but did no more than without being jumped.

From here, reading the other comments, we'll take it into Volvo dealership and have it checked out. Any guesses to what's going on? Things to check?

Thanks
Ed

Ah, you triggered the common ailment that occurs when you run the car for only 5-60 seconds. I've read about this before. It's sometimes called the lawn mower problem, becuase you sometimes have to move the car to get to the lawn mower. Because it doesn't even come close to operating temp, something gets way out of line like fuel pressure (complete guess).

I'd let it sit for 12 hours or so, then try. Don't know the quick fix, or if there is one.
