Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2000 S80 door panel remove

Post by wolfspiritky »

I need to remove the drivers rear door panel and don' have a haynes manual yet. Looks like someone fell into my door and dented it and I hope I can "pop" it out with little or no damage.

Hey there buddy...how's it going?

It's really simple...pop off the plastic piece around the door latch from the the inside. There's one screw covered by a square plastic tab...pop the tab out with a slotted screw driver and unscrew it. Next, gently pry the bottom of the door panel up...it will snap away from the door (larger screw driver helps). Be careful of the plastic clips...they will break. They are cheap enough but just more headache to get new ones. After the clips are off of the door frame, you just lift the door panel up and off of the door. Be aware of electrical connectors...main one for the window switch. You can either undo it or leave it in place if you're careful. Installation is in reverse...lining things back up and popping the door panel into place may take a few tries.
Hope this helps.

Pretty normal. New with the Volvo's and most cars usually have some little thing specific to the make. I actually have a tool from Snap-On for removing door panels that works much better than a screwdriver!

THANKS :D

I believe this is the year that the panel clips changed, so just take a look to see if there are round pegs with center studs in them. If you have this set-up, it's even easier. You just push in the center stud and they pop out, then the entire pegs will slide out. If they don't have this, then you're back to the above procedure.
