I'm still working on my previous problem and I was wondering if anyone had access to VADIS - specifically the headlight wiring schematic for a 2000 V40 1.9l turbo - and might be willing to share?
Also, has anyone ever swapped ECU's in this model/series on their own - or is this something that must be done by the dealer?
Access to VADIS and ECU experience

Hope this helps:

Headlights are 10/84; 10/85 normal 10/86; 10/87 xenon.
The ECU will be dealer only as software has to be loaded.
Bill.

Hi Bill-
Thanks for the diagram - this will spend the rest of its life tucked inside the cover of my oil stained Haynes manual.
It seems I may have confused the Central Electronic Module for the ECU. From what I've read thus far, the 30896697 replaces/supercedes the 30859699 in my car. I'm going to try a CEM swap, and depending on how that goes I'll use this schematic to conduct the autopsy on the remaining unit.
I'll be certain to post the end result to the board in case anyone encounters this problem in the future.
Thanks again,
Mike

Mike,
You are welcome.
Here is the VADIS write-up on changing the CEM. Note the last paragraph.
I take no responsibility for the spelling mistakes. The translator must have had an off day.

First of all, thank you to everyone who responded to my posts. I wanted to provide an update in case anyone else experiences a similar issue.
My problem (no passenger side headlight, bulb and fuses are good, voltage was present) was traced back to the Central Electronic Module. The unit is stamped 38859699 and is located behind the driver

Probably worked because it was already "activated" on another car. It seems that "VIDA Activation" is necessary if you had bought a new unit. I too want to know if other electrical gremlins develop. Please keep us posted either way!

The headlight still works fine and a road test let me test the wipers, dome lights, interior switches, radio, heated seats with most working properly.
The only problem I've noted thus far is the rear windshield wiper doesn't work. I want to double check and make sure I didn't do something to cause this or if it could be just a coincidence. However, the most plausible scenario is that the used CEM (from an S40) wasn't programmed for this function that would be specific to the V series.
The moral of the story is, as MIJ suggested, a used CEM is already activated and can be swapped out - but you should try to find one from a car as similar as possible to avoid a visit to the dealer.

I couldn't have said it better. Most definitely if it came from a "V", the back wiper won't work. Off to the dealer you go to get that activated.
