Brakes for 2001 xc70

Post by jfgale »

I have been told by my dealer that at 45000 miles I need to replace both front pads and rotors. I'm OK with the pads but upset about the rotors. Dealer says there is "a good sized rust ridge built up on them". They also say I've gotten 15K more miles out of these pads than the average driver. Any comments?

45000 is a very good amount for front pads. I'd be proud.

Call around to indy volvo mechanics to see what they'd charge. Brake jobs are a commodity, except for the parts. Insist on OEM Volvo parts to get an apples vs. apples price comparison (and to avoid squeaky brakes).
