Hazard/signal Flasher

Post by anbran »

My flasher is starting to fail. When I use the turn signal, the arrow on the dash just stays on. I tap the hazard button...and then it all works again. Then the problem returns...over again.

I've removed the flasher and checked the connection and it looks clean.

Is there a way to fix this flasher (as they are very expensive)?? I'm wondering if they come apart and if I can "clean" the contacts or something...

I haven't had to mess with the flasher but, if you are bold, you can give it a shot. I would suggest pulling it apart, clean the switch contacts, re-solder the joints on the PC board, and replace the electrolytic capacitors.

The capacitor fix has worked for my fuel pump relay and the interior courtesy lighting relay.

Otherwise, there is always eBay.

Your flasher is going out and you need another one. It will die at the most inopportune moment.
Matt b and NGB over on the Volvospeed forum both have good used ones they'll probably sell you at a considerable discount if you want to contact them.

Anbran, I know that you are a good distance from Toronto.....but,
on the 3rd May there is an all you can carry event at Standard Auto Wreckers . The chances are good you will find one there as well as other parts you think you "might not need".
Here is the link,

I am hopeful to get a few parts myself, let me know if I can help out.
