2000 Volvo S80.....cooling fan stays running and idle sucks

at the moment my 2000 s80 has a few problems. one i dont understand why the cooling fan stays running. even if the engine is cold. also what is happening is the idle for the car is very hesitent. jumps from 200 to 1300. and it keeps going up and down. it wont stay steady. i got a code 455 from the computer. dont know what it is. sometimes the car even dies on me. any thoughts?????
