1987 760 Turbo wagon

Post by Sam Westfall »

My trusty Volvo wouldn't start the other night after I got off work to go HOME. Anyways I have no power to the fuel pump and no spark from the spark plugs. I looked at the brain box and nothing looked fried. I do have power to the coil and all fuses are good. My question is what is more like ly the problem the fuel pump relay or bad pick up in the distributor or is it something entirely different. I love this old car it was at 198,983 miles when it left me at work and had to bum a ride home (wasn't about to call the wife that late to come get me, I work second shift).

Just added Mom's day. Well it is not the fuel pump relay. Installed new relay and the same thing is going on. I am going to put in new pick up in distributor and see if that is it. A few people tell me it might have a shut off switch but can't find one. Found the roll over vavle but it is not electrical, so that couldn't be the problem.

I love my old wagon and am approaching 200,000 miles. I will repaint and recover the front seats if it gets there.

Check the fuel pump relay. I know of guys working for Volvo dealers that kept a spare in the glove box. That would be my first guess.
