'95 940 Turbo -Door warning lamp out - new bulb doesn't help

The bulb failure light on the dash illuminated and I fixed a few bulbs license plate, etc. Failure light still illuminated so I also found the the right front door warning lamp is out. I changed the bulb - no fix. I checked for 12v across the socket, no power. I checked each side of the socket to ground - no ground. Maybe the circuit is grounded elsewhere? Any suggestions where to look without tearing off the door panel? Has anyone run into this (any door) type of problem before?
