94 960 Starter RnR

266,000 miles. The starter has worked intermittently over the last several months. When it didn't, a whack with a hammer on the starter body worked, or repeated attempts turning the ignition. Now no response at all. I need to get it bench tested. Does anyone know how to get this baby out? I only see it bolted in one spot. Chilton was no help at all.

Your going to love this one. Two bolts come trough the bell housing. The top one is tricky. Support bracket attached to nose of starter needs to be unbolted from block. TIGHT squeeze to remove from bottom. Not for the faint of hart.

In the VADIS instructions the only thing it says is to remove the starter motor and the dipstick pipe...wish I could be of more assistance.
