Turn signal / parking light: 1996 850

I replaced the orange bulb for my front parking light / turn signal. The turn signal works now, but the parking light doesn't. It's the same bulb. What's going on here?

With all of the lights turned off, I would scrape or scrub the connections on the lamp socket and try again.
