Hey now,
I have gone through and cleared the the codes and even got the lambda/check engine light but these have come back.

Maybe you could add some more information... What problems is the car actually having (aside from the no-tach issue)? When you say you reset all the codes, was that recently? I'm just wondering about the time interval between a clear board and when all these codes started appearing? You've outlined 4 systems in the car. Are you actually having problems with each of those systems? Have you recently had the dash apart and/or the instrument cluster out (which would have meant a lot of wiring disconnects...)?

Hello,
I reset the codes two weekends ago.
To start with I have owned the car for about three years, and over that time I have had to replace, due to age or lack of maintainance by the previous owner although there were a number of receipts for the car, a lot of components and have only been recently able to read the codes. Still learning about my Brick.
I realize that I have listed a number of systems and, after clearing the codes, these are what have returned.
Currently the car does not have a working ABS/Tracs, cooling fan is out and under moderate to hard braking the car pulls to the left a bit.
I am fairly cerain that the pull is a sticking caliper.
The Abs/Tracs is pointing, I think, to a faulty wheel sensor or the switch above the brake pedal. I have no idea as to how to check/test this.
I had to rewired the cooling fan, via the fan relay high side through an inline fuse to a switch set up on the dash and connected to the ground block behind the kick panel in the driver side foot well. The fan does need replacing and I have found one for $125CDN and will get that in shortly. Fan only seemed to work intermittantly both before and after(which I think was the original problem) and I guess it is finally dead. It did sound a little loud when it did run.
I also suspect a heater core leak and will look into that (following the "how to" to gain access from under the dash) this weekend so that I can order the right one. Can smell coolant when running the heater. Not a lot and I don't have any seepage in the footwell. Yet.
The car is running fine so I'm not sure what the 131 and 214 codes are pointing to. Other than the obvious.
The blower fan was replaced last fall and the only problem is it doesn't seem to blow very well from under the dash towards the floor.
All in all, the car seems to be running well despite the few problems.
I have put a lot of care and cash into The Anvil and because of this, and the fact that I really enjoy this car, I plan to keep it for some time to come.
I just want to get the little things caught up so that I can really start enjoying the car.
I have 315,900km on the car and due to a water pump bearing failure last fall causing the timing belt to break and major damage to follow. It was less expensive to find a good low milage engine than it was to have the old one rebuilt. Bummer
But I did get a 20K warranty.
I'm looking for ways to do what I can for myself as I have put out way too much cash of late and it's time, while the good weather is here...don't have a garage, to do what I can to save some cash.
I sorry for the long list.
Just looking for a place to start as the parts aren't crazy expensive but the labour is what kills the budget fast.
I will check again after work tomorrow and post them as I get them.
Thanks.

99% of the time an ABS/TRACS light is the ABS control module. There is a good write-up on rebuilding it yourself or you can send it off for a rebuild. However, the ABS module failure tends to be specific for only from '96 and later 850s and early x70 series Volvos- but you don't tell us which model 850 you have. I'll let others chime in on your other issues.

Hello again,
If I forgot to mention it, The Anvil, is a 1994 Volvo 850 Estate(sounds much better than wagon) with a little over 315,900km on the dial.

I have been able to take care of some of the little things, like brakes and a head unit replacement(easiest job ever :-]), and now I'd like to get the rest in shape so I can enjoy the summer.
These are great cars but can hit you in the wallet if not properly taken care of.
I'm still learning about Volvos and have learned a lot in the last year and I'm beginning to paint the trim and bumpers, which now look great, but want to get the mechanical back in shape before I continue with the cosmetic and need to find a more specific cause for te ABS/Tracs and climate centre issues.
Please tell me what other information you might need and I'll provide it so that I can pass on the knowledge.
Thanks again MadeInJapan and Maxbaby for the replies and sorry I wasn't more specific to begin with. Can you tell I'm still learning
Looking forward to more info and a some fixes for what ails The Anvil.
I'm just getting ready for work now and will post a list of codes after work to see what remains, or has come back.
There are other little things that need fixing but can wait. Like the drivers heated seat element, a couple of dash lights are out, had to change the cigar lighter socket so I could power the inverter for the laptop.

Really, all in all, the car is great but I need to get it back into top shape to keep it reliable.
Thanks again.
