Shocks and Struts - 850

Post by niu2004 »

The suspension on my 95 850 is starting to go. The front right and back left has been clunking. Does anyone know where I can find information on doing this job myself? I am planning on ordering the parts from IPD.

I have no relationship to either parts seller. All shocks are for 850s. Counterpoint: Remember, if you run into trouble, IPD will probably be available for phone support. The other shop... who knows. They sell parts for 40 different brands of car.

Here's a link on how to do the front struts

http://members.shaw.ca/heeeeee/strut/

Search the volvospeed.com forum on how to do the rear shocks. The rear is supposed to be pretty straight-forward and doesn't require messing with the springs.

T-Squared, if you are reading this pls advise if the front struts also use a bushing/mount ASIDE from the spring seats (as shown in your pictorial). I am kinda confused as to which parts to replace when changing the front struts. I understand the rears would need "rear shock mounts" (those oblong shaped rubber bushings).

Thanks,
Geevs

I haven't replaced a Volvo strut. I believe you have me mixed up with someone else.

Wish I could help.
