96 850 code P1308 Mfg control ignition or missfire

Post by petek153 »

Have this code that pops up instantally after starting car . Replaced plugs, rotor ,cap, wires but still comming up with this code 1308. Read on one site that it could be a faulty acceleration sensor ??? Looked through my service manual and couldn"t even find a mention of this sensor. Is there such a thing and could this be my problem? Thanks for your help.200000 miles and counting

Did a search and I'm just going to quote everyone from another site here:

"Hey guys, well I cleared the two codes I had, and the car seems to run fine.. I still have a check engine light on and its the same P1308 code. The generic OBD II reader that I used said it was ignition system problem, but someone mentioned it was actually the AC clutch circuit fault? can someone verify?

I also noticed water (not coolant or oil) coming down near the front bumper, would the AC clutch circuit fault cause this condensation? Thanks in advance everyone.

by the way, the AC works fine"

"I think 1308 is for the Accelerometer signal too high. The Accelerometer is on the front part of the sub frame, just to the passenger side of center."

Volvoboi24
"Yeah, I think thats it, cause I noticed there was some sort of socket on the frame, but I dont know where the plug is that connects to it... do you know where that plug originates bay13 admin? thank you once again."

"It's not too far away from the sensor, As I remember it's not but a couple of inches after it comes out of the harness that runs along the top of the subframe."

I just got home after an ordeal with our Volvo 240....anyway, I answered your PM and then looked here and seems you've figured it out. If you can't find the part on line somewhere you might raid a wrecked Volvo at a junk yard near your house. If you can get the connector off, it's probably good. I never hear of these going bad.

Code 1308 is gone after replacing the acceleration module. I was able to find one on ebay after contacting a few sellers that deal with sensors. Volvo is not the only one that uses the acceleration sensor same part number is used on some huyndai's price paid delivered was $30 and works great.

1308 was fixed but found that both o 2 sensors were reading bad. Just to let readers know that the "walker " brand from FCP Groton worked well at half the price of the Bosch ones Car now through emmisions and safe for another year.

97 850 CEL P0450 and P1308 codes won't clear, started with frequent misfires, runs a little rough, then evap issues, found several real issues, broken hoses, clogged fuel filter, dirty dist cap, turns out vertical accel sensor is going bad too, found one here :

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Longitudinal-A ... SwLDlcWFy7

$38 + 8 ship, way less than $100 - $200 from other sites

it's located behind bottom of radiator on subframe slightly to right hand side, squarish has 2 bolts 8mm look for connector
