No Oil On Dipstick?!?!?

Went for an oil change and they said that i didnt have any oil on my dipstick. The next day i checked my oil wiped the stick off and noticed no oil, so i added some.....i do have a little smoke i beleive it is a gasket on top....but i dont see it using that much oil...as for the no oil on the dipstick. What could that be?

It could be that the dipstick was changed with the wrong one. There are several lengths and when you change a dipstick you should always take your old one in to get it matched correctly.

It could also be that the oil change shop didn't realize just how much oil these cars take - way more than my Suburban - and just didn't put enough in.

I go with the second scenario. These take six quarts...many places think it only takes 4.

THanks guys! I was wondering though if my oil was burning off very fast...i do have smoke but its not all that much and i belive its a leaky gasket.
