Turbo Replacement for 98 Volvo GLT w/77K

Post by Beano408 »

Just took Volvo to a Dealer (Nissan) it was still under warranty with them. Volvo was loosing 1-1 1/2 quart of oil every 3K miles. Nisssn Mechanic said it was the Turbo Seal & got approval to replace with a new Turbo, Gasket & Seal plus re-did the oil line & Gasket . Picked it up & noticed that the Coolant Light came on before drving off the lot & went in immediately & asked why they said it was because coolant settled & they put in some water in reservoir to top it off. Then I Drove it of lot for only 10 mins & noticed a pinging noise (almost like low occtane gas sound) coming from engine. Also made this sound while it idoled in Drive - Any ideas if the turbo they put in was bad or perhaps could it have been used. Is this typical sound for new turbos until they are broken in or something? Thanks for anyones help.
