cables for sailing

Post by Fabiano »

Dear friends, this week noticed something strange in my 850 turbo, I can not pull close to the cable that comes out of the ignition coil because of me and a spark in the coil too, that will have to replace the cables to sail? Look, I took a screwdriver to mark the voltage cable in it (a small liquid-crystal display) did not need or lean next to the cable reel and she accused passage of energy and started giving a "estralo," lean against the same key toward the cables up the sails, and accused passage of energy, will be that the cables were already? So to remember the cables are original case still need to import fcp in Groton in the U.S. the cable, the cover of the distributor, rotor and plugs all originals. Agumar weeks ago the cylinder 4 is turned off but came back normal a few minutes ago I read the code in the OBD I. Thank you in advance this information

WHAT?

I feel like I just read one of those porn spam emails that hits my hotmail account every so often, the ones that seem to have been garnered from a thesaurus.

I think you are saying that you got a spark from touching your coil wire and asking if you need to replace your entire ignition wire set... ? It also appears you may have used a screwdriver to score the casing of your ignition wire? If so, never do that again. If you have original equipment wires that have never been replaced, and you are getting some arking, then it certainly would be prudent to change the wires.

I hadn't thought of that... that would explain it.

Do we have any Spanish or Portuguese speakers here? I really want to help this guy out but I couldn't figure out the question either.

If someone could translate out of Spanish/Portuguese we might get this to work if he just posted in his native tongue.

Okay VCA...let's help this guy now. :)
A synopsis of what he asks (in English) would also be helpful- then others can jump in...and then, if you would help translate their posts back to him too, that would be helpful! We can all still help as long as you're around on this thread.
Thanks!

One minor detail, it's Portuguese, not Spanish. I'm not very good at it, but I'll give it a further read after dinner :)

The gist I can pick up from my first glance is that he got an electrical shock if he holds his hand near the "bobbin" that connects to the distributor (which I'm thinking is the coil). The part near the end I understand--he had no spark at Cyl 4 earlier (though he does now), but no misfire codes and wants to know if we think it's related.

But the word "estralo"--I can't make heads or tails of it, I think it might be a colloquial automotive term. I do know this, the machine came up with "cables for sailing" because he's asking about "cabos de vela" (really "cabos de ignição")--spark plug wires.

My first-blush impression is that he doesn't know if he should replace the coil wire and spark plug wires. I believe he stated the wires were original (or he just replaced them, again my Portuguese isn't very good--I'll ask a friend to help me).

If he gets shocked with a hand near the distributor and/or wires, then what is offending should be replaced. I don't know what they have down in Brazil but my suggestion has always been Bosch hard parts (distributor, cap, etc.) and Bougicord plug wires.
