can the check engine codes be found without a reader?
with a key / ignition sequence i can find them in my dodge van
any thoughts?

Are you saying you want to know how on a Dodge, or are you asking about a Volvo? In a Volvo, it depends on the model year and specific vehicle. Specifically, what year and model Volvo are you asking about? Btw, all Volvo's I know of except for very early ones have a way to read codes, at least minimally. All of the vehicles in this section in which you posted have a way.
