XC 90 2007 1ST TIME VOLVO OWNER
I JUST BOUGHT A 07 XC 90. WHAT SIZE SOCKET DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE OIL FILTER OR CAN I GET A CANISTOR TYPE ALL IN ONE FILTER, AND WHO IS THE BEST TO BUY PARTS FROM ONLINE. WHAT ARE THE BEST TYPE BRAKE PADS ?

Best not to use all CAPS when posting- some people take offense as in the internet world it's synonymous with shouting.
To answer your questions, best to stay with Volvo OEM pads or use Akebono pads...others squeak badly. In regards to the oil filter, let me recommend this: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/volvo_parts.php
The little flimsy ones at on-line stores have all broken on me. I'm thinking it's a 3/8 inch ratchet on the end of this one. For your oil pan nut, not sure of the size but it's metric.
Buy from http://www.fcpgroton.com or http://www.eeuroparts.com to save money...try to go with whatever they say is OEM and avoid ScanTech parts (may just be listed for some parts as "after-market"), especially on moving parts- as they are cheap but wear out quickly.
