Considering the purchase of a low mileage late model R series wagon. Anything to watch out for in terms of reliability and maintenance issues? Thanks

Welcome to MVS.
All of these are great cars and kinks have been worked out of them. Typically the later model you can afford the better, but there was a design change in '07 (I believe- might have been '08) which I don't care for personally. Good luck and let us know what you get! Btw, you might check over on www.swedespeed.com in the classified section. Typically there are enthusiasts who have taken good care of their Volvo's selling there and you might get lucky and find a decent car from there. Also, look for a guy who goes by JRL- he sells used "R's" and can probably find you a good deal on these. All of the cars that come from JRL are in great shape as he goes through them meticulously before letting them go.

I own a CPO'd 2007 V70R. Great car. The VR's are much more rare than the SR's - esp. if you want a MT. MIJ is right. Later the model the better. If you can get one with an extended warranty or CPO'd through Volvo all the better. Just be prepared to pay more. 2007 was the last year of the P2 platform. There currently is no R under production in the V series. I don't care for the new platform (esp. the rear end) either. Good luck. One thing to know - if you live in a climate with snow, you will need to get winter tires and wheels.
