I'm dreading this job. Has anyone any experience with these two round lower engine mounts?
One (front) is beneath the radiator, the other (rear), beneath the turbo.

Rear isn't a lot of fun, but it's only a few bolts.
First remove the upper engine mount bolt so you can raise the rear of the engine later.
Place the car on jack stands.
To get to the rear upper nut, I had to use a 17mm ratcheting box wrench, then jack up the rear of the engine 3 inches or so and remove the bolt that holds the mount to the sub frame.
Take a look at the orientation of the tab on the top of the mount, I think it points toward the drivers side headlight.
Now just reverse the process. It's not all that bad.

I needed to unbolt all the mounts to get the engine high enough to insert the new rear hydraulic mount...IE upper and lower torque mounts and the right side(by the crank). The front hydraulic should be loose or removed also at this point. Even then I spent a LONG time on my back in a cramped space with chunks of grease falling on my face trying to maneuver the new mount into position.
I almost gave up. The engine was lifted as high as it would go, which also made me nervous. The old mount was compressed somewhat, but not leaking. Changing both hydraulic mounts made no difference to the cabin vibration I was trying to eliminate.
Others have had a similar challenge getting this one in , while some seem to have had less of a problem.

Don't change them unless they're really shot (oozing black goop)...really- not worth it (effort, time nor money). When a shop says they are bad and need changing, and they aren't leaking, I'm inclined to think that they are desperate and trying to make a buck (or lots of bucks). Instead of this, if you're PCV hasn't been serviced- do it.
