a/c compressor quick question

the car is in the shop diagnosis a/c clutch shot. there is 177k on the orig engine. do I pay $850 to replace clutch test and recharge or replace compressor completely . labor costs are cheaper to R and R the whole compressor and it includes recharging the system.......what do you think?
