95 850 threw EGR code

Elation turned to disappointment in a heartbeat . . .
As I was driving home from work yesterday, my '95 850 NA rolled over to 200,000 miles. A moment later the check engine light came on. I pulled the code - p0400, EGR out of limit. I cleared the code, but I have some questions

>is it totally a coincidence that it threw the code right as the odometer hit 200K, or is it somehow related?
>last weekend I finally did the PCV job, replacing the oil trap, cleaning hoses & flame trap, etc. as well as replacing the cap, rotor, wireset, spark plugs, air filter, and airbox thermostat. possibly related?
>The car threw the same code a few months back. I cleaned the EGR port in the engine, but did not clean or replace the valve, as it was completely corroded and looked like it was going to be a total mess to deal with. The code did not return after cleaning the port; this was probably 4000-5000 miles back.

any thoughts & guidance would be much appreciated.
