Hi there, I am new to the forum and still don't know very well how to use it but here is my request for help.
I recently bought a 97 850n/a with 100K miles. The car is really sharp and runs beautifully (with the exception of the noisy dash board which I am working on).
Two days ago my "check engine light" came on. I pluged in my scanner and got a P0410 secondary air injection system mafunction code. I Have done some troubleshooting and found that the air pump does not come on during a cold start eventhough the pump runs fine when I test it by running direct power from the battery to it. The SAS valve opens when I manually apply vacuum to it and I tried a different relay and vacuum switch also with no succes.
Can anyone tell me where the signal for the pump to turn on comes from and how to test if that signal is being sent or not to the pump relay for the relay to close the circuit to power the pump. If you have any other suggestions for more troubleshooting please let me know.
Thanks.
Ed
