I just bought a used 05 S80 2.5T with 46k miles and the day after I brought it home from the Volvo dealer, I noticed that the upper engine mount didn't look right.
I took it back to the dealer immediately and they were kind enough to replace it on the spot. I'm glad I bought it from a Volvo dealer.
But what's the expected life of the upper engine mount in these 5-cylinder turbo engines? How similar is this engine to the one in the 1996 850 Turbo?
Is the upper mount the one that usually goes bad or should I check the other mounts? Finding a bad engine mount at 46k miles concerns me. Makes me wonder what else is going wrong. I thought that a 46k mile car would be like-new.
Accelerating is now quieter with the new mount.
2005 S80 2.5T upper engine mount life?

That top one goes bad first- apparently there was not much improvement over the 850's even on these later models. Ours in the V70 went at 40K miles and was replaced under warranty as well. Apparently the newer design is better (but I'm not for sure).
