If you have power window problems (740)

Post by GSmith »

This is just my recent experience:

When I purchased my 740, the previous owner said that the front passenger window motor worked okay, but that it probably just needed a switch.

Purchasing a power window switch from the local junkyard ($4.00), I installed it in the front passenger door and the window went down. Eureka! Much to my dismay, however, it would not go up.

After much fiddling, I determined that the switch for the front passenger window on the driver's door would only work if I applied pressure to the bezel.

Another trip to the junkyard and I replaced the whole block of switches on the driver's door ($10). Eureka! Now the window goes up and down from either switch.

Maybe I was just lucky that it was the switches, but if you have similar problems then that's where I would start.
