1994 940 driver's window not attached to regulator

Post by cncgal »

Forgive me if I don't use the proper terms. Basically, I have a '94 940 whose driver's side window is not longer attached to the regulator. It is a powered window and when I took the door panel off, it appeared someone else had used black rtv to try to hold the window to the track on the regulator. I have gotten the black rubber piece from the dealer and attempted to put the window into the track with the rubber sandwiching the window. Thinking it is a compression type of fit. The track is not wide enough to have the rubber doubled around the bottom of the window and it doesn't hold it if I just have the window and the rubber not wrapped around the bottom. I am looking for any advice to help me with this. The plastic over the window is annoying. Thank you for any help.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The rubber strip should be put into the lift rail and the glass is then fitted into the rubber strip. It is a tight fit to prevent the glass coming out. Try running a little liquid soap (washing up liquid is ideal) onto the rubber before pushing the glass in.
