s40 2002 catalytic converter
s40 2002 catalytic converter
2002 Volvo 240 with 125,000 miles - Engine codes were signaling oxygen sensor AND catalytic converter failure. I replaced the oxygen sensor and about 2,000 miles later the check engine light came on with a code for the catalytic converter. I am getting mixed signals from several different mechanics about after market converters. Some say it will not fix the check engine problem, and others say they've never had problems with aftermarket converters on volvos. The price difference is huge, but I don't want to gamble on a bad converter. Does anyone have any advise?

Welcome to MVS.
Which 02 sensor did you replace?
It could be that you replaced the front on (before the CAT) but the back one (after the CAT) was the real culprit. If it's bad it won't read how the CAT is doing and signal that the CAT is bad when it isn't.
Good luck with this and let us know what you find.
