S40 A/C question...recharge.

Post by AlanS »

My 2001 S40 A/C is not up to snuff. I see that the local stores sell the recharge kits (Two cans and a gauge). Problem is, I don't know how to use them. Is it as simple as connecting and charging? How do you know when it is full? I have heard that you need to add oil to the system (that's what my local shop told me...that's why they said they need to do it).
So...can I charge up the system myself? I can do most all other repairs.

Yes, you can do it yourself. You shouldn't need to add any oil unless you've opened the system up and lost oil. Just buy the kit at the auto parts store with the connector, gauge, and a can or two of R134A (or buy the above separately). There are directions with the connector/gauge. Post back if you have any questions.

Hi, Can you tell me where the recharge port is. I have a 2001 V40 Right Hand Drive. I have bought the AC Recharge Kit with guage but am struggling to find the port.

Regards

Colin
