a/c faulty on a 95 850 turbo wagon 120.000 k's

Post by time-lords »

My a/c for no apparent reason, decides to completely switch off after I have been driving for a while. I play with all the dials and switches but it makes no difference, it stays off. After I stop for an hour or so and start up again it comes straight back on!. It might run for the rest of the day without a problem. It is very unpredictable, and is becoming more of a worry now that we are coming into our Sothern Queensland tropical summer!!
Any ideas please, thanks.
Phil, Australia.

The overwhelming odds are that it's simply low or out of coolant and needs a recharge (cheap) -- or -- the evap core has a leak (expensive).

But if it's not cycling once or twice a minute it sounds like the former to me.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

There is also a rubber low pressure return line that can colapse under higher vacume pressure when the AC is being heavily worked. This restricts the freon flow and effectivly eliminates your cooling ability.

The AC is one area I let the professional take over...
