The last time I went in to get the $39.00 special they were out of stock and I wound up buying this one instead. It looks like the real cheap one is no longer available but Harbor Freight's web site is just awful.

This is the same as the last one I bought that will read CAN codes - the price went up by $10.00 from what I paid for mine. My son hijacked my old reliable $39.00 model while he was at college and I up and threw a CEL on the platinum (it turned out that the danged elbow on the end of the intake manifold had the line popped off) so I had to go buy another one to find the problem.

Ok,thanks for the link,but...will that code reader(scan tool) work in mine 850?If there's any difference...my car is for european market.

The reason i ask you this is that some time ago i run across some Volvo code reader and there was a note that it will work only on u.s models.
Considering the fact that i live overseas...and that i need to pay about 30-40$ more for shipping costs i need to be 100%sure that it will work on my car.
Btw...what means CAN codes?

I believe that the OBD-II code scheme is universal but the protocol on most European cars, EOBD, is ISO 9141. Most US domestic Chrysler cars also use that protocol so I think you would be safe. The book that came with my Cen Tech scanner claims it is compliant with all ISO standards.

Can codes are for cars with a "controller area network". I guess it simplifies the wiring harness in the car but essentially every device in the car has a network address and it is all interconnected with a serial line and a computer subsystem runs all of the devices..

Here is a link to the Wikipedia description that is fairly good.

That is exactly the same as the one that Harbor Freight is selling for $20.00 more. The CenTech brand is a Harbor Freight house brand name but it is made by Autel.

They actually have some cool stuff on their website including a tool to reset the Service light and the SRS light. I didn't dig deep enough to see how the reset tool price compared with a Draper tool.
