Weird Problem with 2001 V70 24t

Here's my situation. I took my 01 v70 24t into the dealer to get the warranty reprogram on the ETM. But they called back to tell me that I didn't have the correct ETM on my car. Dealer says I have a 2002 non-turbo version.

Now nothing's free. Replacing with new will cost a minimum of $900 before they can even do the software update.

I bought this car in used in 2004 and had no idea and no records of the parts replacement or their costs. I've had to replace the MAF a couple of times when the light came on.

Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe I could get a used throttle body assembly for less than the $900 and then get the software update on that.

Any other ideas?

Wow...anyway, welcome to MVS. It appears we are both in Knoxville so I assume you took your car to Clayton. I really don't believe those guys. Would you be willing to venture down to Chattanooga for a second opinion by those guys there? I really think Clayton is yanking you around.

Yes, it sounded weird. But who knows?

I'm going to get another guy who's worked on the car in the past in town to look at it and verify that and possibly put a used one in there. Cost would be about half.

Yeah, the guy on Southerland is pretty knowledgeable but with older cars. From '01 and beyond, it takes software to marry the ETM to the car- so you may be stuck. Have you considered the XeMODeX alternative?
