V70 D5 2006 - replace sidelight bulb

Hi Everyone
The front left-hand sidelight has failed on my V70 D5 2006 estate. The handbook states 'Locate holder (with a diagram) and turn anti-clockwise to remove'. The holder is barely visible, and I can (just) get a finger on it. It seems that the air filter box has to come out - is this straight-forward, or is there another way?
Hope you can help - CT (French MOT) due this week!
