97 850 & 96 850 Wagon Speedo problem

Hi everyone, hope you are well. I have a sedan non turbo and Wagon Turbo and they both give the exact same problem on the speedo. The speedo works on occasion and when it does it works for a while and then just stops. Could anyone shed some light on this matter?

Are your ABS / Tracs lights on? The speedometer signal is routed through the ABS module and when the module goes bad the speedometer quits working.

Thats correct, my ABS light is on and does not switch off but only on my 850 sedan. The 850 wagon the ABS light goes off. will this be a costly respair?

There are a number of module rebuilders that will do the job for under $150.00. Google Volvo ABS module repair and Victor Rocha and Module Masters will pop up. If you are bold and know how to solder you can fix the module yourself for essentially free.
