S60 2.5T 2002 Vibrations

Post by dnl1972 »

Hello and good day,

Recently this reliable car of mine is vibrating a lot when:
1. always low gear accelleration
2. always between 80-100km/h when rpm exceeds 2500
3. always when pushing the pedal down for accelleration or ascending a an inclination.

The odometer is only at 75,000 kms and accident free.

Hope someone out here can give some advise what to look for a root causes and what parts should be repaired i/o replacement. Went to dealer, and first recommendation was to replace the main engine mount. Done that but the vibrations continues.
Recommendation from dealer which I think they are shooting in the dark... replace the both of the front suspensions, then either one or both of the left and right drive shafts. This is an expensive option, whereby looking for alternatives.

Please help.... :?

/Danny

Does it feel like its shifting correctly? I have same year same model T5 and after 50000 the Tranny fluid was brown(needs replacing). If its not downshifting correctly then it will certainly vibrate on low end or under a load. My other inclinations are shafts or mid bearing for drive shaft. My car has 66500 and the shafts are beginning to click now so they will need replacing soon. PS I am not a tech rather just a wanna be home mechanic.
