2002 Volvo S60 T5 Thermostat unit replacement?

Anyone ever have to replace the thermostat assembly on an 02 S60 T5? Getting code PO128(Coolant temp lower than thermo reg temp) I found out after purchasing a $13 dollar thermo at the local parts store that you have to buy the whole VOLVO thermostat assembly(housing and all) for this car not just the thermostat. I was wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks and if the T40 Long will do the job?

The latest and greatest part number for that t-stat housing is 31219205, which is for the whole thing. You will also need part number 8636573, which is the gasket.
