All ... My wife has a 2005 V70 and just this morning, when she pulled out of the driveway on her way to work, she called me and said she is getting a flashing alert on the dash readout, "Bulb failure, Position Light".
It was dark at the time this AM so the lights were on. I asked her to check the turn signals, etc., all seemed fine. What she did say is that she was not able to keep the high beams on. Not being there, I'm not sure what that meant.
Anyone have an idea what has happened and what it might take to correct it?
Thanks,
Radman
New Odd Flashing Alert
I just talked to my local Volvo Service gal and she did not hesitate when I identified the service alert and she said it was a code for a rear tail light bulb.
Can anyone out there confirm that ....???!!

It is more than likely a bulb out on the rear of the car. It could be a brake light as well as a marker lamp. Don't forget to check the high-mount stop light. On some of the older cars (not sure about the P2 cars) if you changed a tail lamp bulb on one side you may need to change to other side as well with the same bulb or you could still get the bulb out indicator, due to the difference in age, draw etc of the bulbs.
On the high beams I would bet she is pushing or pulling the stalk the wrong way. My wife has done the same thing in her car. I don't remember which way flashes the lights and which way the stalk locks in to keep them on, but I wouldn't worry too much there.

Thanks for the reply ... when she got the car home tonight, it was pretty obvious that it is a parking light, one of two on each side, that is out.
Also, found out from another site, that the high beam issue is probably because the headlight switch was in the horizontal position; should be vertical pointing to the low beam icon. Yep, that be the problem ..:>))
