conventional oil

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

conventional oil

Post by neworleans »

hello everyone.

i have got a 2000 s80 t6 at 122K now and i am in the progress of applying auto rx.
i purchased 2 bottles of auto rx and applied the 1st bottle with castrol gtx 10w 30, drove 3k and changed the oil again to rinse, i used the cheapest oil for this step.
now i am going to apply the second auto rx and bought conventional oil because they say it works best with the conventional oil.

do you guys think it is ok to use conventional oil for a 3K drive on s80 t6's?

I am going to give a feedback about auto rx at the end of application.
it actually worked the first time, i can feel it.
thanks...

The makers of AutoRX say that using non-conventional oil (non-dino) interferes with the rinse cycle. It is recommended that after highway driving you let the turbos cool down for about a minute by idling the car before shutting it off. Otherwise, the conventional oil can bake from the latent heat in the turbos.

I use conventional oil in both my Volvos with three turbos between them, and I just keep the oil changed every 3-4k and let them idle for half a minute before shutting them off.

i was planning on using castrol edge after finishing the application and change it every 7500miles.
which way would be better for the engine?
using conventional oil and change every 3K or syntetic oil and change every 7500K?

thanks.
