MAF - 2001 S80 2.9L

Just an observation.
The other day I took the top of the air box off. The engine was running and I just placed my hand over the MAF vent. I felt no suction, no feeling of air running over my fingers, no sound of air being sucked in. But the car stalled and stopped.

Is this normal operation?

Yep...even if you feel no suction, it's sucking air...at least a bit.
