I searched, but couldn't find the answer for this particular problem. My 91 740 turbowagon (230K miles) has always been a little temperamental. It used to be that when it would rain it would every once in a while stall when at idle (always at the most inconvenient places, stop sign, whatnot). A week ago, it was running just fine (No rain), and about 30 miles out I stopped at a stop sign, and the rpm jumped a little bit, and died. A little pissed, but not terribly surprised, I started it back up, drove up to the next stop sign, and it died again. At a crosswalk it died, and wouldn't restart. I pushed it over to the side of the road, and two hours later came back and it started just fine.
Same situation happened again, only this time too far away from home to just walk back (thank God for AAA). Replaced the plugs, cleaned the rotor and cap up (a little bit of carbon buildup, nothing major), and put in a new fuel pump relay (I read that this is very often a problem). Drove around with it a bit, tried basically every situation it had died in before, only for it to be totally fine. I figured it was all taken care of, so drove off into the sunset only to have it die several times (this time with no rpm fluctuation, just flat die), I managed to get it back by pressing the trottle and brakes at every stop, but noticed it happens much more:
At low rpms
with foot on the breaks
uphill
So, I'm suspecting vacuum problems, that sound right? Any suggestions?
For the lazy:
740 turbo stalls at low rpms
Replaced plugs, cleaned rotor and cap, and put in a new fuel pump relay
Worked
Stalls again, but is more pronounced uphill with foot on the brakes

You don't give us much time to answer.
Have you checked for fault codes, a basic step in diagnosis on these cars as you can do it yourself?
Failing any fault codes check:
Throttle switch and connector.
Engine speed sensor.
Fuel pressure.
Engine coolant temp sensor and connector. This is the sensor that feeds the ECU not the temp guage.
Mass airflow meter.
The car looks good but don't they all when the current car is playing up?
Bill.

Well, I went to check out the 940, and I bought it. I managed to get him to go down to 2,000 because the paint is pretty crummy. But new tires, a beautiful engine, a fair interior, a newish stereo, and a full tank of gas make it worth the time I'll be putting in in my dad's paint booth to turn this white, and hey, the paint's free, my dad has alot left over from painting his airplane.
If I can manage to find the source of the problem in the 740, I will definitely post it here. If not, I will probably end up parting it out.
