I have a 2001 V70 T5, it is at 72K miles and runs well. The latest updates per Volvo incuded reprogramming to improve performance of the the throttle, and the upgrade for the fuel system do to fuel leaks.
The latter upgrade resulted from a heavy smell of fuel fumes during cold start up, the mod was installed and the odor remains. A little checking located the fuel smell coming from the exhaust and no where else. Once the car is warms up not smell of fuel. It make me think that this start up problem is the result of cat. converter being cold/not at its functioning temp. I plan on selling the car in the near future and would like to get rid of the smell that could make potential buyes take a hike.
Anyone have a cure for this problem?

There is no "mod" that is installed. They replace the entire fuel pump under warranty because they all tend to crack and fail. If after this repair you still have a fuel smell issue, I would return it to the dealer and have them verify all was done correctly. There should be zero fuel smell hot or cold.
