2005 volvo s80 transmission

Hi All,

I'm new to the board but not to Volvos. I have recently purchased a s80 with about 40,000 miles. I noticed today when parking that the vehicle in park acted as neutral. I shifted into reverse and it continued to roll forward. I tried to reproduce this problem, but couldn't. I searched the web for transmission problems, but mostly came up with the XC. Has anyone had this problem? Is it going to lead to a new transmission? Does the 2005 have the same problematic tranny that the earlier models do. I should note that this is a T6 model. Thanks for any light you can shed on this subject.

Any T6 transmission is prone to failure. So is the 2.9, they don't fail as much. The only 5 speed in the 2.5 (some 2004s had this 05+ did) was the best transmission for the S80.

Try flushing it and changing the filter first. See if those symptoms go away.
