Another snow question: 940 in milder climate
Another snow question: 940 in milder climate
I will be getting my '94 940 shortly -- my first Volvo, and my first rear-while drive car in Decades. Used to live in northern New England, now live just outside Washington, DC. We get an occasional biggish snow; and some junky mixed precip. Snow here tends to be "greasy" -- higher temp and moister than northern snow. For this climate / conditions (including urban road care, and "southern" drivers who don't do well in snow), are snow tires advised -- or caution / avoidance. Much thanks. (BTW, the Car's name will be Ruby!)
You will find that your 940 most likely has a posity traction rear end diffenterial and thus performs very well in snow. I have used a good all season tire in Toronto- Canada for a number of years, with good success.
But there is nothing better than a good snow tire on all 4 wheels when you have snow and ice to contend with.
