Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Bizarre issue. A few times in the few months I've owned my car, my girlfriend has walked up to the passenger door and just opened the door before I unlocked them. I figured it was just a matter of the handle being pulled when I locked it or who knows. Last night she did the same thing, so I locked the doors with the key. The pin dropped down as it normally would when locked (whatever the color-matched thing is called on the top of the door panel), but the door would still open fine. Even when the door pin is pushed down or pulled up manually, the door opens just fine. Has anyone had an issue with this?
I've been leaving my laptop, iPod, GPS, etc in the car with no idea this door wasn't locking!
Would really appreciate some help!

Lee, that's what I was afraid of. I have a passenger side rear lock/actuator. Do you know if it's interchangeable with the passenger front? Kind of hoping it's a direct fit, or at least that I'll be able to disassemble the two and interchange the broken part.

I would take the door panel off to take a look. That is the only way you will know for sure if the rear passenger side lock system will work in the front.
On a side note, does you car have power door locks? If so, does the door like if you use the remote or lock the driver door?
