This board prides itself on several qualities, namely our very high on-topicality* and our manners. Translated into English, that means we don't wander too far off subjects, and we treat each other with a level of courtesy and respect that has few peers in the automotive forum world.
Lately some discussions have veered from this ideal. I do not want to single out members** or topics because my level of discomfort, so far, is below that threshold. Writing to people about their attitude gives me a horrible paternal/disciplinary feeling in my gut. I prefer a self-regulating forum.
Everyone: please use sarcasm sparingly or not at all, and if you do, please use an emoticon or two to help convey your meaning. Without voice and facial features found in face-to-face discussion, plain written words can be taken too many ways.
Also, please
- have a thick skin,
- go on the assumption that others do not have one, and
- address other members as you would if you were sitting across from them at a table
Thanks for keeping these points in mind when using this forum, thanks to all members for choosing MVS, and extra special thanks to moderators. If you haven't yet, send a moderator a private message thanking him for his help.
* is that a word?
** and it's poor management... "public praise, private criticism"
