V70 2.4T 2004 Intermittant non starting
On two occasions, about two weeks apart, my car has refused to start. When you turn the key nothing happens, no sound, nothing. Then several hours later it starts as if there was never any problem. I boosted it the first time and it made no difference. Any suggestions?

Do you have a second key to try?
The reason I ask this is because there is a little chip inside the plastic on the key, and this gives a serial number to the cars theft system to allow it to startup. If it doesnt see the chip (via RFID - Radio Frequency Identification), then you have no start.

Had the same no start problem a few times till I found that the control wire connection on top of the starter (the thin wire, not the heavy one) had a loose slip-on connector. I think the heat in the area contributed to the loosening of the connector.
Carefully pinching the connector with pliers so it fits tightly solved the problem. Unplugging this connector which is not visible can be done by feel, a hand held mirror and light can help locating it.

The no start issue might be related to the immobilizer like the previous poster mentioned, but probably not the key. There is antenna that picks up the signal from the key and then allows the car to start. This antenna is a common cause of this problem. Pn for the antenna is 8621509. That is a good place to start.
