Dash clock changing times

Post by dcmike »

My wifes 02 XC70 dash clock has gone nuts. The clock rapidly scrolls and then stops whenever it feels like it. Its like going through a time warp. Besides fixing the flux capacitor, is there anything else that we can do to stop this?

More than likely its the processor and its connection to the mainboard of the DIM. Known to go cold over time, it produces interment issues with the clock, odos, and in my case the high beam indicator light. Bad news is that it is apparently a $1000 fix at the dealer (new DIM plus programming). Some on the UK Volvo Owners site say that the connection can be repaired if you have very good soldering skills or if you can find a used DIM that works (same model, same year sort of thing).

There is also a company in the UK that can repair these boards. At this point, I have not been able to find anyone in North America that can.

Cheers,

Bill
